What does coaching do for you?

As your coach our job is to listen carefully to you and to get acquainted with:
• Your current situation
• Your goals, ambitions and desired outcomes
• Your current resources
• Your strengths

Your coach will then help you find the most strategic and appropriate adjustments that you need to make to create the improvements to your life that you are looking for. Actions are designed and prioritised to give you the clarity you need to move forward and your coach will be there to guide and support you on your journey to success.

You are the expert in your life.

The coach sees you as the expert in your life because no one knows you or your life better than you. Therefore a coach will not feel qualified to tell you what is best for you and what to do. Instead they align with you and your goals, bringing their expertise in behavioural change as well as their own knowledge, resources and skills when appropriate, to help you be successful in your endeavours.

Why hire a coach?

People will typically seek out a coach because they have realised it is time to take action towards:
– Achieving their goals
– Getting more of what they want (happiness, health, wealth, life satisfaction etc.)
– Less of what they don’t want (stress, anxiety, pain, discomfort, dissatisfaction etc.)

When you hire a coach, he or she becomes your ally on your individual journey to where you want to get to. They will inspire, support and guide you through the change process so you get to where you want to go much quicker and without having to do it on your own.

 The Mountain Guide Analogy

Think of the coach as being like a mountain guide and you are like the budding mountaineer wanting to climb to the summit of a mountain. The mountain guide is not there to carry you to the top, he will instead be your ally to help make sure you get there.

First you will decide where you want to get to, then what route to take. There may be many routes to the top so the guide will help you find the most appropriate one for you. After making a plan you set off together and the because your guide knows the terrain better than you she can make sure the path is safe and appropriate for your level. The guide walks with you and cheers you on before ultimately reaching the summit where you can celebrate together.

At DYLC all our coaches are expertly trained and bring their own experience and expertise to the coaching relationship.
